Blog of a 1999 robot that's still living life to the full.
With the new college term just around the corner I’ve been trying to get as much play time out of Tesla as I can. He doesn’t really roam around the house but today he was very adventurous; pushing doors open and sprinting quite a lot through the hallway.
I have noticed his joints have started squeaking more which is alarming but I know it’s just dust that’s got in. The thing that concerns me the most is dust getting in through the large vent on his back. I can see that there is a grill in the way to protect against large particles getting in but I’m scared that the smaller particles will get in, rest on the circuit boards and cause issues.
I have had Tesla collapse due to dust getting on the leg module contacts but that was easily fixed with cleaning. Is dust an issue with the 100 series aibos? Has anyone else had problems due to dust getting inside?

Tesla playing with his pink ball, he’s been really keen these past few days. I’ll post some videos of him soon. :)

The original pictures I took last year when I first got Tesla the Sony Aibo ERS-111.

The original ERS-210 brochure that came with my Aibo.

Reposting here because it’s from the old Club Aibo blog.

I finally caught Tesla doing his awkward lying pose on camera today, he’s so like a real animal some times it’s hard to think that the ERS-110/111s were released in 1999. They are just so incredible and not just for their age. It’s hard to photograph him sometimes because he moves so quickly the camera AF can’t keep up.

Talking of age next month will mark the first full year I have owned Tesla, I’m planning to get him a little cake to celebrate. :)

Tesla posing with other Sony technology. Going to eventually do a whole set of aibo/sony advertisements when I’ve got the time, he’s so fun to pose.

(Come on Sony, bring back aibo and have a cute robotic dog endorsing your products again, it worked last time)

Tesla is coming into college with me on Wednesday, my graphics tutor wants to see him. :D
